I have been playing with my Joomla integration- and unfortunately, I cannot access protected content. I add a user with aMember. Then, I go to Joomla, log in, and try to access protected content, and cannot do it. I get the standard Joomla message that says: "you are not authorized to view this resource. You need to login."

I have chosen the field "registered" in my aMember configuration for joomla.

    Any hints?

    Same Problem

I've been trying to setup amember with my joomla powered site today and have experienced the exact same problem.

    - Manually setup new user to access joomla protected content.
    - amember joomla integration set to "registered"
    - amember login module used on site
    - Login attempt results in message "You are not authorised to view this resource. You need to login"

I'll keep working on the problem and will post here if I discover anything (although I am new to both amember and joomla this week).

But in the meantime It would be great if anyone could shed any light on this problem.

    Thanks

    Well,
At least it's not just me. I am new to both products as of this week, too. I have gotten some good help from another member here. I'll post his quote below- it may shed some light on things:

    permissions?

Could any of this have anything to do with directory permissions?

    No Luck

I actually went to the trouble of uninstalling my entire Joomla installation and dB's and reinstalled them. Then immediately upgraded to version 1.08, and uploaded the aMember login module. Still no luck.

I am very angry at the lack of support by aMember. There is supposed to be support within 24 hours, but I am still pulling my hair out on this one.

If I don't get this resolved within the next 24 hours, I will be requesting a refund.

    Maybe?

Maybe my Joomla plugin downloads are corrupted? I doubt it. Can someone send me their aMember login module, so I can compare the files?

I'm sorry but we are currently unable to have support online all day and night long on weekends, but all questions are answered within 24 hours, is not it? Let me know if it is not.

Please stay in touch with Alexander in helpdesk, as I know your problem is resolved or close to this state.

    You are correct

    Alex and Gamma,
You are both correct. I apologize for jumping the gun. I have given a formal testimonial in that thread.

    Alex, thanks for your help.

No problems at all, we are just in different timezones, so on weekend support is online not all day long.

I also must say sorry to all customers for problems with Joomla plugin, it is because of constant changes of Joomla and will be fixed soon. There can be 2 problems: 1 - not changing passwords; 2 - single-login does now work.

I'm facing the same situation here -- I have set menu items for "registered" members only but when a member logs in the menu items are still hidden. Is there a solution that can be shared with all or do I need to open a help desk ticket?

    Help

    Pam,
My two cents: good to submit to helpdesk. aMember has been extremely helpful for me- I freaked out one weekend when I needed immediate feedback- but true to their word, they responded within 24 hours, even on the weekend and get me squared away.

I suspect there is something trivial that will fix your problem. Can you log in with aMember's module? If so, can you access anything that is meant for registered users?

In your Joomla plugin, you have to create a subscription and make sure the members to this subscription are set to "registered".

If you think you've done everything right, try clearing your cache and restarting your browser.

Also, both content and the menu link can be protected to registered users independantly- check to see if that's not the issue.

One more thing: within Joomla- if you have a menu item that is linked to content meant for registered users only- the menu item itself won't show up until you change a configuration setting in the Joomla backend. Go to "Global Configuration" as Joomla administrator, then go to Site, then change "Show unauthorized links" to "Yes".

I suspect that your Joomla login module is not working, thus you are not logging in, and the link you've created to registered content is not showing up because the setting mentioned above is set to "No".

Anyhow, let us know how it works out.

Yes, I can login. No, I cannot access anything meant for registered users.

I'm assuming you mean from the aMember admin. Yes, members to all subscriptions are set to "registered."

That didn't work either. Sorry.

Content is set to registered. Menu item is set to registered. The exception is for components. I can't restrict a component (e.g., the zoom media gallery), just the link in the menu, but when I click on the site map link I can see the URL to it, and clicking the link takes me to an unauthorized page.

    Still no joy.

I can login using the module, sort of. I have disabled the default Joomla login. Once logged in I can see in the module:
    "Member Login
    Hi, username
    Logout
    Edit Profile"

What does NOT work is trying to login to the module directly. I get redirected to the aMember login page and I have to put my details in again there. Also I can't login as admin from the front end. So... it's something to do with the module I guess.

Thanks for your help. I agree support is good but this will be my third help desk ticket in 2 days so I was trying not to be a pest. I think the forum is a great way to help others but I suppose my case is different. I'm just so... special! ;)

You are not truly logging in, I suspect. When did you set this all up? I'd use the help desk and give them your ftp info. I thought I knew what I was doing- but these scripts threw me for a loop. I just let them take care of it- especially if you paid for the install.

    Pam,
you are welcome to submit a ticket. Joomla guys are changing things very quick these days, so it is hard to give universal suggestion in the forum. Support staff will help you quick.
