Yes, aMember rocks; that's obvious. Yes, my forum name is an indirect hint to our site; that is who we are. But Alex, can you, or other forum moderators, start banning idiots that post their porno BS and other blatant spammers. It's starting to look like it's becoming more frequent. Honestly, the Customer Service here and feedback from other members sets the standard for most sites. The 1001 Plug-ins and ability to create custom(ized) ones makes this script fit most needs (although a $40 lifetime update would be an improvement over a 6 month limit - just my 2 cents ). Links to someone's site to see how they implemented an aMember integration is good for others to see and helps everyone. Even simple links as part of someone's default signature are cool. But still, please encourage these people who are obviously not posting anything related to aMember to seek their fortunes elsewhere. While I'm rambling, how about a forum area where programmers can offer their services to your customers who need customized plug-ins. Then aMember can review/approve them and add them to the available plug-ins. It's a win win for aMember, customers, and those with the skills to write the plug-ins.
I've been fighting spam on my boards by 2 means 1- requiring email confirmation before posting 2-Disabling hotlinking to php files and redirecting hotlinks to a fake posting page. (This requires use of the rewrire rule in an htaccess file. Sample below) Spammers are clicking a link to get here and then posting. I found that by letting them think they are still spamming it keeps them happy and my board clear of spam. Tom In this rewrite links are allowed from three places: http://www.xxx.com http://xxx.com http://yyy.xxx.com And anyone that does link gets sent to: http://www.xxx.com/kait/posts.html
Actually, it is not peoples, it is robots spamming our board. I've upgraded vBulletin, lets see if it helps. Of course, once I see ad message, I immediately delete it.
Yes, I'm interest in seeing how our friends here implemented their aMember and if we like it, I would like to get in touch with them to see if they could share with us how they did it. As for last quote -- I'm in favor where programmers can offer their services -- their plug-ins. I feel there's a lot of "plug-ins" programmings are out there to share (or sell for a small fee) -- this way, my aMember can do alot more than we have (I love aMember and don't think there's any other reliable and stable similiar web-based membership software). I'm a volunteer for my SMALL ORGANIZATION and have little background in PhP. So any help from anyone could be appreciate.
