Hi Team , I am looking for someone with experience in creating a membership site with amember and joomla combined. The key thing i need is a way to add downloadable audio (mp3),pdf's, excel spreadsheets etc for members to download. Anyone who is successfully doing this i would love to talk to and get some tips. Thanks in advance Scott
DocMan Scott, The DocMan extension for Joomla sounds like just the thing for you. You can use the Joomla user type "registered" for downloads available for paid subscribers if your site is a paid subscription site. -Bob (info@southlasalle.ca)
Hey Scott, you can also try reMository. It's what we use and it's very similar to DocMan. Each has a few pros and cons; ie DocMan doesn't list the file size but it can handle batch publishing with another module (always check for yourself). Search their forums and the Net and see what existing users have to say. We prefer ReM over DocM, but Rem is siding with Mambo and DocM is going Joomla; so we may eventually have to change. If this is a concern; learn the differences, go with DocMan, and hope they implement what's missing, or try modifying the code yourself. There's also Mosets Tree, it's about $100, very nice (the Joomla Team uses it on their site), but I don't think it limits access to your registered users. Search their forum, I think you can add a few lines of code for this feature (or maybe they've already done it). Good Luck.
