I tried the /tester.php file before downloading the trial version and got the following info...

Testing whether your system has ionCube Loader in php.ini...Failed
Testing whether your system has Zend Optimizer in php.ini...OK
    Testing results:
No additional configuration required and aMember will work on your hosting using the following loading method: Zend Optimizer installed

I then downloaded the "amember-ZEND-latest.zip" file, unzipped it and uploaded it to the root (www) folder on my host. When I try to run...

    www.mydomain.com/amember/setup.php I get "500 Server Error".

This site is being hosted by Interland, if that helps.

I also first set the data folder to "777" recursively, and then did the same to the entire "amember" directory in case that was the issue.

I haven't seen any mention of this in the forums, so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    D.

The ISP is NOT Interland. My mistake. I have opened a help ticket with them in case no one here has any advice.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

No, the problem is CHMOD. Please set back default permissions (755 or what it is set for other folder which you did not change).

As described in the installation guide, you only need to do CHMOD if aMember installation wizard asks you to do that. On your hosting it is not necessary and even is not allowed.

Thanks for the help. Alex, you were right. I contacted the ISP for help and they recommended the permissions change. I'm going to purchase the full-blown product b/c I think it's what we need.

With the non-eval version, I'll be able to edit the config.inc.php file directly, right? (not encrypted by Zend)

    Thanks again for your help.
