Hi there, I created a folder for protection (for members area webpages) here http://www.MYSITE.com/amember/members I went to protect the folder through the browse function but it came back with this message: new_rewrite (#Unable to fetch result of test from http://www.MYSITE.com/amember/data/tests/mod_rewrite/1.php. Read FAQ item regarding this issue) BTW the FAQ lead to your CGI-central home page. I then tried changing the CHMOD to various settings but that just got the same results. Any ideas? Howard
It a non available option when I want to choose it on my server. I'm getting " (RewriteRule doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server)" I called tech support and they said that I could turn on mod rewrite through the .htaccess file. I would have assumed that Amember was already doing this. What do I need to do here to fix this? And please don't tell me it's answered in the help desk, becuase I checked and it's NOT. Not specific steps that I could find anywhere. I'd like to buy and use this script is I can get it to work.
@mcitron: what issue are you having? Not having rewrite as an available option or not being able to protect a folder underneath the aMember folder of the rewrite option not showing as available. 1) In my experience it has been a bad idea to protect folders underneath the aMember directory. 2) Rewrite can be enabled a couple of different ways: a) in your .htaccess file for the root of your domain adding "AllowOverrides All" (if you have "AllowOverrides None" currently you should change it to All) b) Commenting out a couple of lines in the check as documented here: https://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8488
