Have you installed the actual Amember->WordPress plugin (that you have to purchase from Amember)..

The plugin above just adds the necessary login box and links in the sidebar, it does not facilitate the integration of the two products.

I have the wordpress plugin from aMember installed and have two installs of wp on my site (2.3.1 and 2.5). As other comments have noted, the plugin will log users into wordpress in 2.3.1 but not 2.5.

Looks like a lot of conversation about this. Does anyone solved how to integrate fully with 2.5? If not, has anyone heard if an update to aMember Wordpress plugin is coming?

I'm trying to decide if I should just give up on 2.5+aMember.

I could have sworn I had this working last week with my 2.5 wordpress... now I'm trying it again, and it's not working at all. This is really frustrating. Looks like I'll have to downgrade wordpress after all, unless there are any suggestions?

What I'm seeing: user logs into amember, and is not automatically logged into wordpress. I can log in manually via wp-admin, using the amember credentials, and then everything works fine. New signups through amember create the new wordpress accounts too. The only thing missing is the automatic login/logout when logging in/out to amember. Unfortunately, that's rather important!

I got the newest version of the aMember plugin (not the sidebar WP plugin). Have been told by support that it will work with 2.5 and install instructions indicate the same "[The plugin has been tested with WordPress 2.0.5, 2.3.2, 2.4, 2.5 RC1]".

In newest version it relies on Secret_key. I've updated accordingly. Don't seem to be getting any errors and have databases connected. Not having any luck getting aMember sign-in to generate log into wordpress.

It seems like this should be an easy troubleshoot. The cookie management is handled via Secret_key and I've triple checked that. Any other ideas?

mine was also very temperemental. I even issued a support ticket, but when Alex when to check it his response was somehting like "I don't get it, its working fine" and indeed it was.

    It hasn't since ballsed up.

    Heres my setup
    WP2.5
    Amember Pro
    Amember wordpress plugin
Hardcoded sidebar login (from this thread)

Im using the updated plugin from Alex, NOT the one that's available via download on the members area here. Also, Im NOT using the widgetized version in the sidebar, but a hardcoded version.

If someone logs in using this hardcoded version in the sidebar, they are logged into amember and wordpress. I am hiding page content using the 'hidepost' plugin, but for extra security I also have my video files stored in a 'premium' directory. So even though they are embedded on a page, the user needs to be logged into amember to actually watch them.

So as a workaround, I've removed all links to the wordpress login page, and disabled manual registrations in wordpress in the wordpress settings. So someone can only get a wordpress account by getting an Amember account. So now, it doesn't matter if they do put in the wp-login page in their browser :)

Hope the above made sense... anyways....

    2.51 working fine :)

I just tried this setup. And here's what I got:

The hardcoded sidebar login sets the aMember session variables. Still does share cookies well with WP 2.5 (at least for me). That is, users are not appearing as logged-in on WP.

For fellow troubleshooters... I've also tried all sorts of cookie-related tests, clearing cookies, different browsers, etc. I wonder if, for those of us that are having problems, if there is some config setting or legacy code left in from previous install. To that end, I also went into the aMember dbase config table and deleted any references to wordpress after uninstall. Then installed new.

I've opened a ticket but I'm also on a deadline. If anyone thinks they have this figured out send me a note nicknd23 [at] yahoo.com . Happy to compensate for your timely problem solving...

Thanks and I'll post anything else I figure out.

for any of you using WP2.5.1, you need an updated version of the wordpress plugin as well, as wordpress boys have changed the way cookie hashes are created slightly from version 2.5... just the heads up, in case you find that once you log in through your amember you are still not logged into wordpress.

I've sent in the changes to Alex and he should have the updated wordpress plugin for all you elitists who are using WP2.5.1 ;)

I just got the latest update of the plugin this morning, but can't get this working with 2.5.1... it logs into aMember but not Wordpress. Hmm...any suggestions? Does anyone have this working with 2.5.1?

Do you have the WordPress / Amember plugin installed in addition to the sidebar widget?

Yes...I discovered the issue. I downgraded to 2.5RC3 and it worked fine. There are changed in 2.5.1 that render the plugin/aMember unworkable for login through aMember to Wordpress.

Damn. Any word on when we're going to see an upgrade to the widget to work with WP 2.5.1? I don't want to downgrade. Plus, my site is huge and downgrading rubs be the wrong way.

The plug-in that I am using says in the readme that it has been tested with WP 2.5.1.

The widget does work for 2.5.1. I've seen reports that the Amember plugin also works with 2.5.1.

    Are you having troubles?

    hello

i'm new to wordpress and am thinking of purchasing amember and using this plug in to manage a section of the blog that would be restricted to paying members.

can you please tell me does the amember sidebar plugin only restrict access to the blog content or does it also restrict access to the static pages?

my second question is does this plug in restrict access to the feeds? or do i set up something to stop feeds being burned so people can't get in via a backdoor?

    thanks

sorry one more question. does this widget log in the user to both amember and the blog simultaneously? and is it all you need or do you need to have one of the members widgets too to ensure only amember paid up subscribers can sign in?

Amember will support either restricting the blog as a whole out of the box, or just to specific content with the optional wordpress plugin you can purchase.

This sidebar widget adds a Amember login to your sidebar. If you have purchased he WordPress plugin for Amember, it will also do single signon for you.

Does anyone know a way to keep users logged-in to WP and aMember until they log out? (Multiple visits?) I've not been able to successfully accomplish this, but I want to drive subscribers to premium content via e-mail without requiring them to log-in each time they visit the site... successfully using aMember widget, by the way. Great and useful tool!
