I am currently building my site and am waiting to launch/publish my site for a couple months and am wanting to just get everything done and coded before launch, including getting aMember up and going and tested prior to releasing my site. Is it possible to get all this done and tested without publishing my site? I'm using the feature for the members section of my site. I have my domain and site and everything, just waiting until I have everything ready.
Your members section will be in a folder of its own. Using amember, protect that folder, thus it will not be accessible to the public. For yourself to check, you just log into amember and you will be able to check your pages or members section.
Yeah, like I asked, is it possible to get aMember up and going, and tested PRIOR to publishing my site. I am using Yahoo! Site builder and am not wanting to have my site acutally published and online for a couple more months. but from step 3 for installation it looks like I actually have to have my site online prior to having aMember. Is there another way around having to Browse to http://www.yoursite.com/amember/setup.php to work on finishing the installation process? If that is the case then I have to have my site up prior to doing this.
I'm having trouble understanding your question- you are asking if its possible to set up amember by itself? Yes You mentioned using "Yahoo! Site builder", is this a hosting service or an HTML editor? If its an editor, it may not work well with the amember templates. David
I'm going to rephrase my question: I need to know how to code or install the paid forums into my website so that I can make money. The instructions on Installation step 3 have me going to http://www.yoursite.com/amember/setup.php and I am unable to do that until I actually publish the site. I need to know 2 things: 1) Is there a way around it? Can I do it without publishing the site? 2) Why do I have to publish it before it will work? My boss will not allow me to publish the site before it is completely finished. I am using a site building program and am trying to get this done completely prior to publishing the site for the world to see.
I guess they're not going to answer you here - If it were me, I'd just password protect the whole domain on your host
