In case people don't know, I am somewhat of a noob with amember and wordpress integration.

I have several products I will be selling through 1shoppingcart. One of those product will allow lifetime membership to my site. How do I go about signing people up when they buy my product? Can I use somekind of key so they can prove they bought my product, then they simply have to enter that on my amember signup page under the 'free lifetime membership' option....

OR, is there an automated way of me signing people up through a particular product, once bought through 1shoppingcart, not the amember sign up page?

Finally, is the hide post plugin the best option for hiding categories from non-subscribers?

    Thanks.

    I have another question:

Just found out the hide post doesn't work for entire categories. Is there a way of hiding *ALL* categories unless people are signed in? No other variables, just that.

Yeah, you would have the visitor signup in amember then go to 1sc, and back to amember.

codeispoetry's amemberincremental bridge may do this- i believe it will protect directories, but wont hide them.

Is there not a simple hack that says

    if(not signed in){ don't show categories;}

    Thanks.

    Hi piano,

The Bridge protects your Wordpress virtual directories. You can arrange for directories to hide or appear based on login, if you are using The Bridge (which requires aMember + Incremental Content plugin).

If you need help on this, you can contact me at codeispoetry [at] amemberincremental.com

Why would I want to hide directories?

It seems like it would be much more effective to show the directories that a person doesn't have access to and have some sort of sales message to convince them to upgrade to see the content that's hidden.

Or am I misunderstanding how the bridge works?

If you want to show directories and teaser text etc.. I'd suggest the method that I teach for using the plugin hidepost.

    Hey David,

I'm already a member of Membership Academy and that's exactly what I was planning to do. Thanks!
