Sorry, but this is rediculous! I've being trying to work out how to integrate Amember with Wordpress all day and I am on the verge of either requesting a refund...or seeing how many innocent neighbour's cats can carry the weight of a desktop PC launched from a 2nd floor window. All I want to do is offer 2 levels of memberships on my blog. One blog page contains the Silver downloads, and another contains Gold downloads. First of all, Amember doesn't seem to want to play ball in allowing me to protect the entire Wordpress install. It tells me that the htaccess file is sleeping with my wife or something. Then, there's absolutely zero insructions on how to protect single parts of Wordpress seemingly in the entire land of webternet. Oh, unless you want to pay a silly fee to watch some "marketer" guy show you how cool his wordpress site is and how much money he's making selling swords to pensioners in his sleep. So, not only does Amember NOT integrate with Wordpress on a basic level (protecting the entire Wordpress install), but it's also seemingly harder to protect single pages of Wordpress using Amember than it is to persuade Angelina Jolie to come around to my house in full Lara Croft attire, on Valentine's Day despite hubby Brad having just bought two air tickets to Saint Tropez...
LOL, nice post- reminds me of why I made my site I've got training videos on integrating wordpress and amember. David
aMember Expert - Some Tips Hi tricknick, You are hilarious! On a more serious note, the stuffs you need done, can be done. Some tips: Try deleting your htaccess file for WP. There are instructions actually... David has it on his site, and I have a plugin that automates the protection process by categories, i.e. virtual folder protection. Cheers, Lee
Hi Lee, just bought your plugin and guess what? More hoops to jump through...sent you an email. (Ioncube loader installation required, so went to see how to do that and incurred a small migraine after reading my host's instructions on how to install Ioncubes on the server). I'm pretty close to giving up with membership sites and just sending people download links via email after they have purchased. Cheers, Nick
So that was you! You didn't identify yourself as "TrickNick" nor explain your issues. I didn't know it was you until now. I receive large volumes of email daily and cannot keep track of the many whom I have helped or replied in these forums or other forums for that matter. A few things: Firstly, you purchased the wrong product. Secondly, I offered to help you with your urgent situation. Thirdly, I replied you promptly via email. I have done more than a few customized solutions like the one you needed, and you could have a membership site up today. Lee
Hi Lee, I wasn't having a go at you or your service, it's a great product...it's just that I had problems with it which you indeed did help me with tremendously. However, I found a different solution which was more suited for me and due to serious time constraints, I had to drop your product for that one. Many thanks anyway, P.S- I can't believe how complicated Wordpress and membership scripts can be to set up...it's seriously like nothing I've experienced in all my years online! Cheers! (Slightly cooler now)
Tricknick, Thank you very much for the laugh...I was howling when I read your opening post. Trust me, I'm not laughing at you...just with you becasue I too am having great difficulty. Hell, all I'm trying to accomplish is to make my checkout pages use my SSL certificate. LOL. YOu made my day.
