I have a monthly membership (Product 1) selling for $37.00 per month, recurring (PayPal_r presently). Most members sign up and pay $37 from the start, then monthly until they cancel. We also want the option of offering a 90-day free trial on the same product using coupons, one single-use coupon code per customer. We also want our staff to have a free membership, indefinitely, again, one single-use coupon code per staff member. This is how we'd like to set it up so that we only need one (1) product: Product 1 (regular $37/mo membership) Price: 37.00 Duration: 1 month Recurring: yes Coupon 1: (First 90 Days Free) Coupon Usage Count: 1 [can only be used by one person] Member Coupons Usage Count: 3 [apply to first 3 recurring payments] Discount: 100% Coupon 2: (Free to Staff Members) Coupon Usage Count: 1 [can only be used by one person] Member Coupons Usage Count: 100 (monthly pay periods) Discount: 100% Two Questions: 1. Will this work? 2. Will the "Member Coupons Usage Count" AUTOMATICALLY apply the 100% discount for the number of pay periods given, or will the member be required to resubmit the coupon code each month? Thanks!
The amember coupon is a one time thing when they order, they get the discount. You can set it to give a discount for a trial period, or for all periods (trial and recurring). So to do a free 1 month and a free 90 days coupon, you will need 2 different products. David
David, I'm unclear on the "all periods (trial and recurring)". Does that mean that a coupon with Coupon Member Usage Count set to 100 or so will automatically apply the discount to all periods, or is there some other way to make it free (without adding another product)? Thanks!
"Member Usage Count set to 100" - this means the member can use it manually 100 times. There's no way to set how many times it will be used in a recurring format. David
resolved Thanks, David. Now I get it. We have changed the scenario to accommodate the single-payment limitation in the coupon system. Solution: 2 products, one is the regular monthly recurring subscription with a 30 day trial for the same monthly price; the other is a 90-day trial for 3x the monthly price, followed by the monthly price recurring. If someone logs in to product 1 without a coupon, they pay the regular price from the first month on. With a coupon, they can get the first 30 days free. If we send them to product 2 without a coupon, they pay three months' worth in advance - good for 90 days - then the regular price per month. With a coupon, they can get the first 90 days free. To bring in staff members and other free subscriptions, all we do is give them a coupon to either product, then once they're in the database, we change their payment record to "Free Signup" and cancel their PayPal subscription so they never get charged anything. Crazy workaround, but it'll get us down the road! Dan
