I have a vBulletin forum with thousands of members and just installed amember along with the vbulletin integration plugin. How can I set it up so my existing vbulletin members can access amember? Will they all have to change their passwords?

you will export the users from vbulletin into csv and import into aMember (modified of course for aMember format)

yes they will have to change their passwords since vbulletin pw are encrypted with salt.

I am confused by this. Are you saying that vbulletin passwords cannot be imported into amember and that every user will have to re-enter their password into amember?

Is it possible also that users can still use the login (we can disable registration) in vbulletin or is this also required to run only through amember all registrations and all logins.

how many thousands of users do you have?

importing them all in amember might be an issue to begin with... and then you need to set aMember (during import process) to generate them all random passwords (as it cannot import encrypted vBulletin passwords, so those will be gone for good).

now, you'd have to send a mass email to all users imported into aMember via aMember about their new password... and for thousands of users, it might get tricky... you better have a VPS or a dedicated user, as shared hosting won't cut it.

and if you want to have users being able to access vbulletin and amember with the same account, all your registrations would have to go through amember only (there is an amember product you'd import into vbulletin and set to forward all registrations to amember).

I have at least 50,000 members. My members will be seriously ticked off if one day they find themselves unable to login, as you can understand.

I have a dedicated server. I'm more worried about users not being happy with this. Also want to make sure my users can go directly to the forum without having to login to amember since vbulletin has a feature to leave a user logged in, which they prefer.

Registrations are fine. I'm more concerned about login. Do you need to buy another product in addition to the vbulletin plugin?

Thanks a lot for all your answers.
