Hey there. I finally got amember up and running (and I love the amProtect plugin so much). My question is this.

I'd like to set up some mutually exclusive subscription plans (Product A - Working on Cars, Product B -Working on Boats, Product C - Working on Jets). Each plan would have it's own, unique incremental content (Product A - Lesson 1 - Overview of Car Systems, at signup; Product A - Lesson 2 - The Tires, after 1 week of subscription; etc). I can totally get that far.

I'd also like to sell the lessons individually, so the member could buy: Product A - Lesson 9 - Air Conditioning Systems, available after 9 weeks of subscription to Product A or buy it now). I can also do this already by adding a separate product for the just the lesson.

However, I'd also like to compensate my member for buying the individual lesson plan.

For example, I'd like to give the member +7 days of membership in the plan where they bought lesson. They have Product A -Working on Cars subscription, and are at week #7. They buy Lesson 9 - Air Conditioning Systems at a premium (which they'd get for free in two weeks anyway), so I want to credit them for an extra week. I think I can do this using Renewal Groups.

The last thing I want to do (and what I need help with) is: What if they buy Lesson 9, but do not also already have the Product A - Working on Cars subscription. Is there a way to give them a free copy of the Product A - Working on Cars subscription when they haven't signed up for it?

My customers currently like the idea of single purchases, but I want to allow them to buy their way into a membership system (and get comfy with paying for content that way) as a bonus to the single purchases.

Any easy way to do this?

    Wow....

I think one way to approach something like this is with the built-in coupon system. You could generate a discount coupon for the series and post it on the single lessons. This should encourage those that buy the single lessons to purchase the full series. Coupons can be designed to only work for a given product, so if they bought a lesson from the car series, they could only redeem the coupon on the car series.

You should also look at some of the sales funnel plug-ins from Ken Gary, they might do this.

Thanks, I was pondering this actually, and yeah, coupons are probably the way to go. Ken's plug-ins are awesome, but I'm trying to slowly build into them. :p

I haven't messed with them yet, but can coupons be one-time use only? I wouldn't want people to use them over and over again.

*whispers* Also, I really have my eye set on his sales page plugin, but I've spent so much already. The site needs to pay for that on it's own. :p

You should "mess with them". IMHO, it is one of the most overlooked, yet most powerful features of aMember.

    You can:

    • Set the number of coupons to generate
    • Set the total number of times it can be used by all members.
    • Set the number of times it can be used by a single member.
    • Set the discount as a percentage or amount
    • Define the products the coupon can be used with
    • Optionally set a start and end date for the coupon

    Coupon configuration screen attached.
