Okay, so I know it's possible to release new content incrementally over time using the incremental content plug-in. But I have an online course, and what I need to do is this: DAY 1: User has access to Lesson 1. If (and only if) user completes Lesson 1 (determined by clicking a "lesson completed" link/button, then on DAY 2 user will have access to Lesson 2. However if user does NOT complete Lesson 1 on Day 1, then they will not have access to Lesson 2 on Day 2. Normally, the incremental content plugin would function by automatically granting access to each daily lesson, irrespective of whether the user completes the previous lesson. I need to make lessons available incrementally, but only if this additional requirement (clicking the "lesson completed" link/button) is met. Can this be done with the incremental content plugin? If so, does this require a custom modification? Or is there a better solution to achieve the above? Thank you so much!!! Ryan
Hi Ryan, What software are you using for your online course? eFront has progression rules which allow you to define criteria that a user must complete (view a certain lesson, get a certain % correct on a Test, etc) before being able to view the next lesson.
You could do it with a new level, that would be added by using a renew link on the answer page. David
Skippy - I've looked at eFront. It doesn't quite do what I'm looking for... But thanks for pointing that out. David - Could you explain what you mean by adding a new level with renew link? Would each lesson essentially be a separate product? My apologies, but I'm not following 100% (but am intrigued to understand how this might be done)... Thanks! Ryan
Ryanl, Like Skippy B was saying, what you want to do is typically a feature of a Learning Management System (LMS). Today Rustici Software announced the beta release a WordPress (WP) plug-in for their "SCORM Cloud" service. You can read about it here. This would allow you to deliver content based on SCORM directly from a WP-powered site. I have played with this plug-in some today. It will allow you to assign WP users to courses based on their WP role. When you couple this with the amProtect plug-in which assigns WP users to roles that match their aMember subscriptions, this would be a powerful solution. While SCORM module development involves a significant learning curve, it is a powerful model. You can build a multi-SCO (sharable content object) SCORM package and set conditions on how a learner progresses from one content object to the next. This really is a HUGE thing for those of us that want to deliver online instruction with a WP-powered site. Good Luck...
Yep, each lesson would be a new product. On the results page, you would then have a link to continue onto the next lesson, by clicking a link- this link would subscribe them to the next product. It may be possible to do this automatically too. David
