When I first installed Wordpress plugin for aMember, it seemed to work fine. The WP roles and WP levels show up and new WP roles were created based on the 2 products I have.

Now I've created more products but no new roles were ever added.

Also, I changed one of the product names but the WP roles is still listing the old name.

How can come no new roles are added and how can i edit the old role's name?

    Thanks,
    Katie

What version of the plugin are you using? Is this a beta?

You did not identify which plug-in you are using (original aMember, aMember Beta, or amProtect). Since you mentioned "levels" you must be talking about the original aMember ($40) plugin. IMHO this plug-in should be considered obsolete since it bases some of its functionality on levels which were replaced in version WordPress 2.0 with the much improved and more extensible "Roles and Capabilities System". Support for levels was totally dropped in WordPress 3.0.
I used this plug-in a long time ago so I am going from memory; however, I don't remember it working the way you described it. I think the plug-in simply lists the roles that already exist in WordPress on the subscription product configuration page. You can choose one of these roles along with setting a level.
You can add new roles (along with assigning capabilities to roles) and rename roles using various plug-ins such as Role Scoper.

I would move to one of the next generation plug-ins that do not control access using roles or levels. While Alex of aMember is developing one, Ken Gary's amProtect is a proven and well supported plug-in that is not based on roles and levels. Ironically amProtect does create user roles in WordPress based on an aMember subscription names. This feature can be used in some cases to further control a website by using WordPress plug-ins that are based on a user's role.

I have the latest versions.. the versions after purchasing. There is no version number when I look at the Wordpress Plugin install.

I think I just have aMember, just the version after purchasing the program.

The wordpress plugin came free with aMember.

Also, I tried Role Scoper, it doesn't allow me to edit the names of the roles.

If you use wordpress plugin that you download from http://amember.com/amember/member.php it should not create roles in wordpress, it use only existing roles that defined in wordpress already.
