Does anyone know if I use amember with wordpress 3 will it handle creating additional roles beyond the 4 default roles or would I still need to use a roles manager such as Capability Manager?

aMember will not make any changes to WordPress (WP) roles. This would be handled at the plug-in level. I am not sure how the aMember WP plug-in works, but I do know that the amProtect plug-in creates a new role for each aMember product.

amprotect sets all members to a subscriber role, level 0.
But using it- you set the content to allow access to members with specific amember products.

    David,

From my observation I agree that amProtect assigns new members with the "Subscriber" role. This role can be used to control the standard WordPress capabilities. You can also change this role (from the Admin Control Panel) to one of the other WP roles as necessary.

In addition, amProtect generates additional roles, "aMember Pending", "aMember Active", and one for each subscription product. See attached image. This is a screen capture from the top of my WP Users page.

I doubt that "Levels" is still being used since WordPress replaced the Levels system with the "Roles and Capabilities" system @ Version 2.0

Maybe Ken could clarify as needed.
