Hey, Ok so we are updating our product. We want 3 products Lite, Advanced and unlimited. But we want the user to have the option to choose if they Would like the software for an additional $49. Is this already possible with aMember or will I need a add-on for this?
I don't mean a upsell. I want them to have the option to tick another radio button if they wish to have the software or not. Is this possible?
Understood. I suggested the upsell route as it has a few advantages: 1) Allows you to provide the option on a product by product basis (ie. only available to advanced and unlimited, but not to lite) or even different software packages based on the level (ie. 30 day version of software versus unlimited) 2) Allows you keep the initial cost of the transaction simple and lower priced to reduce abandonment. Depending on your payment processor (ie Authorize.NET, PayPal) you can charge the second transaction without requiring them to re-enter credit card or paypal information That being said, if you are looking to do it during the initial purchase you would need to either: a) use price groups to differentiate between the lite, advanced and unlimited groups with the checkbox option enabled to select whether to include software (you will want a rule set for the software product to require purchase of the lite/advanced/unlimited product to prevent people from trying to buy just the software. b) create 6 products lite, lite w/software, advanced, advanced w/software, unlimited, unlimited w/software c) customize your aMember. Might be able to do this via template, but not 100% sure without spending more time on it. By default aMember supports a radio button (this OR this) or a checkbox (this AND/OR this)
Oh, thats going to look ugly. It will also confuse some people. Do you think there will be a option with the new version of amember to do this?
I just figured out how to get this done in aMember v.4 - it will be done - easy to configure from Admin CP -> Saved Forms. In aMember Pro v.3 it is also easy to do - via manual signup template editing. There is an example: http://www.amember.com/amember/signup.php it is done right in template HTML. Contact us via helpdesk and we will help.
