Hello, I need to set up several membership sites over the next six months. I am setting up a dedicated Linux server right now and have a few questions for integration with 1shoppingcart. I will have each membership on a separate domain. As I understand, each will require a unique license for Amember. I am not a server administrator, but can manage most things especially with Cpanel. Is Cpanel a good choice for managing each domain and setup of Amember for each membership program? If there is a better way, can you please suggest it? If we decide to include Windows media for streaming, is there a way to run Amember on Windows? Otherwise we will need a separate Windows server for streaming media. I did see the post here http://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4884 regarding this, but wanted to make sure. I would like to keep all membership sites on the same server for ease of administration, however I understand that Windows Media requires a Windows server. Finally, I will be using 1shopping cart to sell the memberships. Will there be any other special requirements for integration or is that simple to accomplish through thier interface? Thanks, Shane
1. Yes. A Cpanel hosting will work without any problems. 2. It is possible to run aMember on Windows, but you have to use Apache webserver instead of standart IIS. Usually commercial Windows webhostings use IIS. 3. It is also possible to run standalone Windows Media server, and allow it to access aMember database for authentication. But in this case you need full control on Windows server to install necessary software. 4. 1Shoppingcart will work without any problems: http://www.amember.com/p/Payment/1ShoppingCart
Alex, 1SC does not support Paypal for recurring payments. I assume that means if one integrates with 1SC then only a merchant account can be used to collect recurring payments. Thanks, Sam
hello how would it work then to set up recurring payements? I use 1SC as well and would love it to be able to make the membership recurring payements automatic, this is one of the reasons for buying aMEMBER! thanks Alcinoo
Recurring payments are still supported for credit card payments via 1SC. There are no restrictions from aMember side to get it working with PayPal, but it happens completely on 1SC side - contact them, may be they will implement this. As alternative, you can enable direct PayPal processing with aMember as described in the manual: http://manual.amember.com/PayPal_Standart_Plugin_Configuration
1shoppingcart and paypal payments You can use 1shoppingcart with aMember and paypal. However, you are correct in that if your product is a recurring product, paypal and 1shoppingcart will not process the recurring amount. yes, Paypal does have the ability to process recurring amounts, but if you are doing this integrated with 1shoppingcart it will not work. I use 1shoppingcart and I have paypal on my order form, and I just have a note at the top, that you cannot pay with paypal for my recurring products. Other amember products that are lifetime products do not have a problem with PayPal. I am doing a Teleseminar to teach people how to intgrate aMember with 1shopping cart on Wednesday Feb 7th, 2007 Go here: http://www.shoppingcartqueen.com/products/tele-amember.php Cheers, Christina Hills "The Shopping Cart Queen" http://www.ShoppingCartQueen.com Tips and tricks for using the 1ShoppingCart System
