aMember uses notify_url variable, so PayPal will always post IPN to aMember's
page when you place order via aMember. NO matters what you have configured in
    PayPal settings for IPN URL.

aMember is also able to resend IPN posts to any number of scripts, you may
configure it at aMember CP -> Setup -> PayPal.

Hmm... The manual tells to add your IPN handler url; in my case
http://www.soundchilds.net/amember/plugins/payment/paypal/ipn.php (is there a typo? my path is http://www.soundchilds.net/amember/plugins/payment/paypal_r/ipn.php
So... I can overlook this one ie. aMember is configured to use notify_url to override the current IPN handler for another script?

    Best regards,
    -MikaK

Yes, it is a typo and will be fixed.
Anyway, it doesn't make sense what configured in PayPal settings, aMember will anyway override it with correct URL.
