Hi There, I setup a Free product where user can signup and access the download page for LIFETIME. Here they will get the free product for trial. If they want the full version product, they have to upgrade by choosing a product in member area and proceed with upgrade or they can signup for full verison in signup link. I setup affiliate and my affiliate members bring their traffic thru their unique affiliate links to signup free lifetime access page. So when the free members upgrade to full version from member area (member/member.php) do the affiliate get the commission? I believe yes because we set the cookie 360 days but need to confirm. Looking forward to hear from you.
Yes. At this point- cookie length no longer matters- as long as the affiliate cookie was there when they signed up for the free product. If you look at the members account you'll see the affiliate listed for that member. This ensures that they will get credit for backend purchases. David
Further to this question about affiliate. Let say prospect A signup free trial thru affiliate link "david" and later prospect A wanted to upgrade to paid version and hit affiliate link "Thomas", signup and make a purchase. Which affiliate get the commission? Same scenario but liltle different situation. When prospect A signup free trial thru affiliate link "david" and wanted to upgrade the paid version. Prospect A hit affiliate link "Thomas" but not signup. Prospect A upgrade thru member area using add/renew subscription. Which affiliate get the comission? Looking forward to hear from you.
When the user first signs up from an affiliate link they have the affiliates ID entered into their user record. This affiliate will then get credit for future purchases, no matter if they come from a different affiliate link later on. Its the affiliate who got the 1st signup that counts. David
David, it getting more clear now thanks. So the cookie recorded in user browser the moment user signup. SO when user hit affiliate link "A" but did not signup and then hit affiliate link "B" and signup the B affiliate cookie recorded and get the credit. Correct?
Further question... sorry asking too many question on this since affiliate member and customer wanted to know the situation. I get a bit annoying handling this as affiliate offer bonus to buyer so buyer claim the bonus but in affiliate stat the buyer did not buy form thier link. I need to clarify this matter. If the first user signup without affiliate link (at that time Affiliate program not activated) and later when Affiliate program activated the user clear the cookies and purchase from someone affiliate link but not with new signup. Using the same old signup without affiliate link. What do I see in the system, the purchase was not recorded with new affiliate link he hit but on but without affiliate. Is that correct? Question 2: I also wonder if the user was first signup with affiliate A and later he/she clear cookies and purchase from affiliate B using previous signup. Which Affiliate get credited? Question 3: If user first signup with affiliate A and later he/she clear cookies and purchase from affiliate B using NEW signup. Which Affiliate get credited? Question 4: If user first signup with affiliate A and later he/she make NEW signup with affiliate B link and purchase which Affiliate get credited? Looking forward to hear from you guys.
1. Yes correct, User will not be assigned to affiliate so purchases will not generate commissions. 2. Affiliate A. 3. Affiliate B 4. Affiliate B
what do you mean by new signup? Once they are signed up, they are in the system. Do you mean a 2nd product? A still gets the credit since A is listed as the affiliate in the account for the initial signup. David
