OK Alex, I have been using Amember for about a year now and you were fabulous on helping me when I had problems installing with PHP 5. I have built a new site using ALL mambo stuff but I want to keep using my Amember. I have looked at all the other stuff that is available to manage payments in 'native' mambo and have decided to KEEP my Amember. Now, two questions: 1. I can't find that old price list you used to have on the site showing the price of modules. How much is the mambo integration module? 2. I have seen a lot of discussion on your site as well as mamboserver about integration between Mambo and Amember but it's all a blur. Can you give me a run-down on how it integrates and what it will or will not do? I have two types of "paid" subscriptions and some areas that are protected through Amember using .htaccess. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Michael
Alex, thanks! I know you are a busy guy but I'm trying to evaluate the plug-in before I purchase it. I would really like to know the basics of how it works and how it interacts with Mambo. I have many other customized items in Mambo that I want to ensure they play nice with Amember. 1. How does the login work, does the plugin come with a Mambo style login box? 2. Does the plugin use the Mambo users database or forward Mambo to the Amember one? 3. What about other Mambo components that look at the user database from Mambo? I ask this question wondering if Amember plugin somehow forwards all requests from other Mambo items to look at the Amember database. 4. Does your plugin setup the Amember admin page to look good in Mambo or do we have to use the Mambo wrapper? Sorry, I know you are busy but I have questions that I really want to get answers for before I purchase. Maybe if you had an integration FAQ covering some of this stuff that potential customers could look at. Mambo is the hottest right now and I'm sure MANY more will come after me with the same questions. Thanks again, Michael
Yes indeed, Mambo is getting scorching hot raves from users all over the world. It's free, powerful, & well-managed open source project. There is also the free Community Builder (CB) component which has been one of the top three addons for Mambo for some time. If aMember has the ability to seemlessly integrate with Mambo or CB's user management functions, it will probably become the #1 choice for any Mambo webmaster that runs a subscription-purchase website. That's just my forecast. I've always liked aMember, and I believe this integration platform can springboard it's success.
What?? Sounds like some sort of sales pitch to me?? What I really need right now is Alexs' expert knowledge. Thanks.
1. aMember has its own login box, but there is great feature: if user is logged-in into aMember, he is logged-in into Mambo, and vice-versa. Of course, all aMember Pro pages are customizable, and you can make it look like your Mambo login box. However, you should understand that it is not a plugin for Mambo - it is a separate standalone script. 2. The plugin works as described here: https://www.amember.com/support/faq.php?do=article&articleid=4 3. See (2) 4. aMember still be COMPLETELY SEPARATE from Mambo. It is not a little piece of code for Mambo, it is serious standalone script, developed and tested several years.
