Hi Alex, Since most everyone is or will be using Joomla! and not Mambo, can you please fix the mambo plugin so that it works with Joomla! I just changed over my Mambo site to Joomla, but can't get the amember login stuff to work. thank you, John
Any progress? Hello, I've recently purchased aMember Pro with the Mambo Module and it appears to work seamlessly. However, it appears that the future trend seems to be Joomla!, so I was checking on the progress of the updated Joomla! plugin. Any progress? Also, any suggestions on how to upgrade from Mambo to Joomla! without losing or destroying the aMember installation? And any suggestions for the best way to smoothly re-integrate Joomla! with aMember once the plug-in for Joomla! is available? Hopefully it will be as easy and smooth as the Mambo plugin was! Thanks in advance for time and input! QC
I believe Alex will be releasing a "Joomla/Mambo" compatible plugin shortly. I reworked it and got it to work, but it needs his blessing because at the end of the day he will be the one supporting it. As for upgrading Mambo to Joomla, you should look at the threads on www.joomla.org where you will find the details. My advice is build a separate installation of Joomla and run it along side your Mambo one, and get it working, then use Amember's Rebuild function to repopulate the db when you are ready to go live. Good Luck to you - P/M me if you have any specific problems. -John
Hi John, thanks for your input! I will definitely go back to the joomla site and read the threads. I started reading them, but since there really wasn't much about switching for those with aMember already installed, I thought the wiser choice was to check in here. Your suggestion of building Joomla alongside Mambo, then moving everything makes perfect sense and I think I'll definitely do it that way! Although, no doubt I'll need help doing so and therefore appreciate your kind offer of help! Thanks to Alex also for being willing to work on a module for Joomla!. QC
Question for Alex, John, or anyone who might be able to answer this question... Long story short, my Mambo site starting giving errors today and I don't know how to fix it... my question is.... Is it possible to just start using Joomla! now and make a link to aMember as an "external" link so that it goes to it's own page (same idea as having a static html page with a link)? Then once the aMember/Joomla! plugin is available migrate and merge everything? Hope this makes sense. Thanks!
Joomla plugin is already available for all members purchased Mambo plugin! Have a look in members area : http://www.amember.com/amember/member.php
Joomla Plugin is working good AFAIK.... I've run amember "wrapped", but i prefer "unwrapped" using header/footer templates files in amember to make it look like it is part of joomla. -John
... Great, In the readme.txt file it says I don't see a mod_amemberl.zip, would the one in the mambo plugin work though?
I purchased aMember and the joomla plugin today, aMember looks damm cool, I just need to try and integrate it with Joomla, however, as someone mentioned above, there is a missing file in the plugin: There is also module mod_amemberl.zip for Joomla in amember/plugins/protect/joomla/ folder. I do not have this file, can someone help me, pretty gutted they I've paid for it yet there are files missing. Thanks Lee
dont worry let me assure you not to worry, you'll get the files you need and it all works ( I know I rewrote the joomla plugin) you'll have to wait for alex to get you the correct files and for tech support though (and hes usually pretty quick about it). BTW - the mod_amember1.zip is the file you can use to create your Joomla/amember login block. look through these forums for a lot of discussion on this already. -John
If people already have aMember integrated with Joomla! can someboday help me get this mod. I need to have tested it for Monday. Thanks Lee
In fact, Joomla module was a fork of Mambo module. Here is mod_amemberl.zip from Mambo, please try it.
Hi Alex Hi Alex, looks like you've made my weekend, thank you. I do have one other problem which I have posted in another thread: I get the following error when I try to register: MYSQL ERROR: Table 'reboot_members.users' doesn't exist in query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM users WHERE username='test' AND ( email <> 'test@test.com' OR (usertype <> 'user' AND usertype <> '') OR password <> MD5('test') ) Do I need to manually add this table. Btw. aMember looks awesome, I will be one happy man if I can get this fixed this weekend. Lee
Please have a look to aMember Cp -> Setup -> Joomla. Have you configured it ? It will happen until you finish plugin configuration.
IT looks like you don't have the config setup correctly for the plugin. the database / table name part i mean it should look like: reboot_members.jos_ i think based on what you just posted. just try to read the little description about what you need to type in the config boxes and also there are tons of How-to's on this board about getting a plugin working. Now that you have the files, you just need to config it correctly and it will work. Sorry I didn't go searching the forum for you to find the correct thread, but im really busy atm. -John
