    Hi guys,

As part of the profile page I would like to add tick boxes with pre set options for members to tick if they have interests in those option.

    Easy :)

But then I want other members to be able to search for all members with any combination of interests they choose and have it return limited details about members who met that criteria (name, email, location). A sort of members directory really.

    Not so easy :(

Can anyone suggest a way to do this with AMember, or an associated system for which there is a plug-in?

    Thanks a bunch

    Matthew

I think you'll need a 3rd party program to do this.

Forums, (bulleting boards) often allow this feature.
Take a look at PHPBB3 and vBulletin.

Many thanks David, I will look into both of your suggestions - vBulletin seems like a good all rounder.

Is there REALLY no way to do this though? It doesn't seem significantly complex technically (with my limited knowledge of course) and I can't believe that no one else has wanted to do this either!

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks to all.

I actually turned this feature off on my forum, and you'll see its off on this one too. This is because its too easy for unscrupulous people to take your list of users, and spam em using either the emails they list, or via private messaging.

    Something to consider.
