I would appreciate any thoughts, tips, help if someone has successfully integrated this trio:

I'm using the guidelines from aMember regarding the integration of these three components [ref: http://www.amember.com/p/Integration/Joomla-CommunityBuilder].

Sticking point: Step 5 of the readme file [ref: 5. Go to Joomla Admin CP -> choose menu Components -> CommunityBuilder -> -> Plugin Management.
Scroll down to "Install from directory" input, you will see directory path ending with .../com_profiler/plugin/ add to path words "user/plug_amemberconnector/", so it will look like .../com_profiler/plugin/user/plug_amemberconnector/
and press "Install" button. You should see successfull plugin install message.]

This simply results in an error message from Community Builder that reads:
" Install new plugin from directory /var/www/html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_amemberconnector/ - Failed

Another plugin is already using directory: "/var/www/html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_amemberconnector/"

    Thoughts? Help? Greatly appreciated!

Try to remove that folder /plugin/user/plug_amemberconnector/ and use Upload & install plugin package instead.

Having the same problem. I archived the file in zip format. Then used upload and install function. As a result, after the install process i am taken to a blank index2.php page. Also, when i try to edit the installed plugin i am returned a blank page. Using CB 1.2 stable.
