Tried to do a search as well as google this issue, but to no avail. I'm working on a site that was already designed with AMember implemented. The domain's owner and previous webmaster had some serious issues that resulted in the webmaster screwing the owner's site up. I've managed to fix alot of it... now I am dealing with Amember 'stuff'. By the previous webmaster having user/pass for everything (ftp, web server, DBs, etc.) he managed to gain access and screw up some things... so now, all login/pass have been changed INCLUDING DBs that Amember obviously accesses. (i think he dropped the tables, haven't even had a chance to look at the DB yet) but I already see the script for Amember to create these tables... so I figured I would deal with it when I got there... The owner was able to access her CP up until we changed the DB password. So, 'maybe' the tables are still intact... I'll see shortly. Ok, so... the problem is this... since DB has new password... I see that I can manually go in in to the config file and set that value... no problem. Question, is this all I need to do to reestablish the connection with amember and DB? And, while doing a search here... I see that there is supposed to me a folder on the root.... /amember This folder is not there!!!! Is it necessary to have this folder and content for everything to be operational? Because I'm really hoping that it was only needed for and during the installation process, and thus 'should have' been deleted (something like a joomla CMS or Web install that some products use). Everything else (files/folders) appear to be in place, including htaccess... Can someone please shed some light on this for me? And yes, I know.... back up.... back up.... but, I'm just now working with this client. The previous web master screwed client really bad!!!
There needs to be a folder where aMember files are stored, but it can be called anything. It is the directory that you found the config file in that you manually set to reestablish connection to the Db. It will have structure like: \admin \backup \data \docs \includes \ioncube \language \plugins \smarty \templates \tests \xmlrpc If the Db is indeed gone and you have no backup you will also need to work with aMember support to retrieve the license code for your domain as it is required during the installation process.
