I'm using this version at the mo - and works well. However I have noticed that the access log appears not to track all people entering the protected area of the site.....just some of them. Any idea how this happens? Just that I have no way of knowing if this is a genuine member or perhaps a hacker or someone using a members password. The only thing I have discovered with the system is how it turns people into moaning cynics (who were very nice before when they could access my site for free - even though the information then was far less useful)! Also password sharing is a problem as people don't even want to pay a small fee if they can get away with it. Also ISPs with roaming IP addresses....IP logging is more difficult then. Maybe there will be a newer version with some way to tackle this problem?? Otherwise I think it's a good reliable system. Additional comment: oops i used the wrong icon for this thread...was meant to be a question mark so ignore the thumbs down!
aMember doesn't count AOL users (in access log) because they anyway get new IP each time and there are no ways to determine if it is the same customer or not. aMember has account sharing prevention and it is anyway effective. If someone gives account details to a friend, there is no protection. There is always a way to avoid protection even if it is exists, and such protection will cost you more troubles than advantages. However, if someone shares account access details on the public forum or webpage, there will be lot of customers (with different IP) accessing your site with the same username. aMember will detect it and block account access immediately. You can tune this at aMember Cp -> Setup -> Advanced.
