Hi, it looks like integrating amember with joomla is not easy as I thought before. And support seem so slowly. I have submitted a ticket since three days ago and got no answer until now. I started thinking amember is not suit for me and would like to request a refund if my problem's still not resolved I have a existing joomla site with a few thousands member and I have used Access expiration component for managing my user subscription before. I would like to use amember since I heard a lot of good reviews arround My problem is, rebuildDb seems not working for me ( I tested amemebr on my localhost) Everytime I clicked the rebuilddb link from amember admin, it always said "Rebuild Done." but when I browse user there's no my Joomla user imported (even when I checked with phpmyadmin there's no user on the amember_members table). I have followed all instruction and I have placed all amember script on the "member" folder on the root The second question, how could I add new protection for existing joomla component. Let say I want to protect a download category from my remository component, so then I go to : mysite.com/member/admin/products.php but when I try to add a new product there's only a field where I need to put the protect url. So how could I protecting a download category? Is that only put the download category link there? I have tried that and unfortunately it's not working. I know many people success with joomla integration, i hope i can do it also, of course with your help thanks
Since you already have a site and experience with AEC, I'm going to assume you are not a newbie. Also, aMember has plenty of ppl who compliment thier customer service help throughout this forum. The guys and gals are probably still recovering from the holidays but this should be the week they get back to normal. #1: Local installs and testing can sometimes be tricky. I'd bet this is a conflict on your local install, especially if you are running a virtual server on a windows box. If everything else seems OK, install aMember on your actual server and give it a try. Building the tables shouldn't create problems with your existing site if it fails again. #2: aMember does not protect your content on a Joomla site (maybe someone else can correct me on this). aMember will handle your subscriptions, billing, and logins/outs. You can set a particular reMOSitory category to allow/disallow view/downloads from the reMOSitory admin pages. I haven't used AEC, but ppl seem fairly happy with it, and its free. If you already purchased aMember b/c there was something AEC couldn't do for you, stick with aMember. I (the group I'm with) do use Joomla + aMember + reMOSitory and we are happy with the setup.
The rebuild function in aMember, moves users from aMember to Joomla, not vice versa. You'll need to export your users from joomla and import them into amember then rebuild the database. There could be issues regarding passwords. Alex would definitely be the one to give you advice on this. David
