Hello, I am a subscriber to a site providing daily updates that utilizes amember to protect it's content. The site owner, being a specialist in another field, is happy for me to automate my downloads but isn't able to assist me in how I can accomplish this. Anyone know how I would do so? I prefered tool for such things is wget, logging into the site with firefox then telling wget to use firefox's cookies hasn't yielded success.
Is it audio, video, or PDF content? Maybe you can convince the owner to put the contents up as a podcast? This requires using htpasswd to protect the content. David
Is it possible to use htpasswd to protect just podcasts / feeds created with Wordpress (i.e. so someone with iTunes would have to put in credentials with ugly box) and protect all other Wordpress pages (etc.) with new_rewrite method to protect so when someone arrives at the site they are let in with the "normal" login prompts / cookies? Using htpasswd methodology, does a person have to login to iTunes each time?
I think you need to use htpasswd for both. I dont see how you could protect just the feed, since its generated by wordpress- not in a real directory. David
