I encountered a bug - If you try to register with a user name that isn't in the system but there is an email address, you'll get an error message that the user name has been taken: Username tregfdtregfdbvc has been taken by another user. Please select a different log-in name If that is your account, please go to your membership page to login into your subscription. -- no, that stupid user name isn't taken. What you mean to say is that you found an email address that matches but you didn't pick it up after you entered the email address to tell me that it is already registered!
I have the same problem. Except what is worse is I just deleted some test users and I'm still getting error messages that are saying the username is found. The email / username is not in the system. I've checked from the amember admin interface. I've checked by looking in the DB amember_members table. WTF is going on here?
Yes - I had the exact same problem. Somehow the user reappeared. I deleted the user and then all was fine. But there still is the problem above and I had the exact same issue as you did.
The problem can be in integration plugins. make sure that there is no such user(with the same email or username) in all third-party scripts that you have installed.
Alex the only 3rd party script I use (trellis desk) doesn't allow logins. The issue is with amember not the 3rd party plugin. I've seen this issue on multiple web sites I own.
Yes the problem in error message itself it is not correct. I will work on this issue and fix it in next release.
