Is it possible for affiliates to refer members to a free product now and then later earn commission if the referred members upgrade to a paid product (which I will introduce in the future)?

    The situation is as follows:

My software is in beta right now and sign up through amember (latest version) is free. I would like to allow all users/affiliates to refer other free beta users. Then later once the software launches they should automatically earn commission for those of their referred users who upgrade to a paid account.

Is this possible and if so is there any specific setup necessary? Or will the affiliate cookie automatically get saved for the free product too and then count for upgrades later?

    Thank you.

Yep, I do this for my site: http://imdirtylittlesecrets.com/
Affiliates eatn 5 cents for free signup, the 50% of One time offer etc..

Ok thanks, that sounds good. So there is no setup necessary and affiliates will earn commission for any new/future product their free users sign up for by default?

The affiliate id of the person who referred them is stored when they sign up. Whether or not they sign up for free or paid subscription if they were referred using the right affiliate link the information will be tracked in the database.

As long as you configure your products correctly and your commissions correctly then any future purchases will also pay the original referring affiliate.

Yes you still have to configure your affiliate program and commissions.

So to recap, by default, if an affiliate refers someone to a free product (ie, free community/pdf/etc.), that will cookie that affiliate into the database for lifetime commissions?
