:confused:I need someone to shine some light on "concept" of how amember links to my index page, my members only page, or any other pages i want to link to. Do I do the linking in dreamweaver or does automatically do it when i ftp the scripts to the public_html or do i do it on the web? i have no clue and i just need someone to explain it in layman terms?
    thanks

Amember gets installed into a directory on your server (usually \amember)

There are a couple of ways that users could get to Amember.

    1) You add a direct link to Amember signup page from one of your existing pages (\amember\signup.php)

    2) A member attempting to access a directory that is protected by Amember will be directed to an Amember login / signup. In this case, you add a direct link to a file that exists in the protected directory, when the user clicks it they will be prompted to log in or resgiter.

Firstly you FTP the script to your webserver and set up a mysql database/user etc
Secondly you follow the installation instructions from http://manual.amember.com/Main_Page.
This involves running the script from your browser once its copied to the server.
You follow the install instructions and configure the script to your requirements.
What the script does is protect directories on your server that contain files, html pages or PHP pages that you set up yourself. To access those protected directories a subscriber must register (and pay if its a paid subscription) to gain access.
Owing to your "newbieness" (absolutely no offence intended), you might be better getting someone to install and configure it to your requirements if you aren't all that "techy"
If you require assistance I will be happy to help

I've got a video on how to do the install on my site (free registration required).
Watching it may give you some insight.

To sign up, got the the membership academy site, click on any content, signup, and choose a free membership. You'll then have access to the free videos and content.
