Cancelled through paypal but still remained as a member. Why?

I was testing subscription and unsubscription to my paid membership site. I cancelled subscription through paypal. Member.php of the test subscriber shows that its subscription is cancelled. But in amember, my test subscriber remains active.

Do I have to manually cancel those who unsubscribed?

Usually, this situation comes up when the subscription period still has active dates before it expires. When the subscription expires, then access is removed.

Canceling a subscription in PayPal merely cancels rebilling, and does not refund the customer for the current time period for which is already paid.

Since they paid, they will still get access for the month- but at the end of the period, it will "expire" and they won't get access.
