Clearly CAPTCHA is great to get rid of bots, but its a little much for a micropayments site - gets in the way of a sale.... We liked the solution in v3.0 that just asked "Please retype this 4 digit number" which cut out 99.99% of bot attacks, is there something similar for v4.0 ? - A cut down "test for human" ?
I would have to agree with nytix2 on this one. CAPTCHA is great in some aspects but lacking in other aspects. Often times you need to refresh the generated code a few times before you can make out all the characters, which can be a turn off for potential members. With all the expertise of AMEMBER staff, and such a wonderful product, it doesn't seem like an unreasonable request to offer a simpler CAPTCHA solution. For example "fox captcha" or "captcha refresh" from phpclasses.org seem simple enough.
Totally agree. A great example of a simple Captcha (not the complicated mess from Carnegie Mellon) is at: http://www.avast.com/en-us/contact-form.php?loadStyles&subject=SALES With just three characters, it keeps bots out and customers in.
