    Hi Alex,

I've been using my AmemberPro and VB plugin for sometime now but I am thinking of adding a CMS that has an Amember plugin which I can buy as well.

I have a large forum of 33'000 users. Would it be possible to change from a VB signup and login to an amember setup.

I wondered how amember will cope compared to using forum signups.

All the forum signups start as free accounts and then members can upgrade the usergroup via amember signup and payments.

I have lots of members getting confused about registering their free forum account details to exactly match when joining in amember. I've started to think one registration and log in would be best.

I am concerned about losing an usergroup levels already in amember and payment and access rights.

I had an install service when I started and would be interested to hear your views for me to do this myself or contact me if you can offer this as a service I can pay you to do.

    Andy

    Andy,
Yes, one registraton and login is better. Unfortunately, aMember integraton is half-solution only.
It is better to use (for example in your case)
    vBulletin + vBulletin built-in subscriptions + vBulletin-plugin for CMS.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible because these applications don't meed customer requirements.

If you already have your members in aMember, then you just install a CMS, configure aMember plugin and press aMember CP -> Rebuild Db. All aMember users wil be exported to the CMS. Of course, aMember is not aware of vBulletin users.
Registration functions in the CMS must be disabled. Unfortunately, there won't be single-login between CMS and vBulletin - it is just impossible.
Have a look to CMS designed as plugins for vBulletin (I have not tried, but I believe there are such solutions).

Hi Alex, I think i'll concentrate on the forum side so now and not worry about the CMS yet.

My forum members database is bigger than my amember members database because I use VB registration and upgrading with payments is voluntary. I don't use VB subscriptions I just have 3 products in amember that update a paid usergroup for 3 different payment terms.

Looking at the latest VB plugin upgrade am I right in thinking that the result is going to mean my users will exist in both databases wether they buy any upgrades or not?

If members do end up in both datases do I need an amember product that will match a newly registered FREE forum account?

sorry for any confusion I am just trying to simplify membership for my members and I get the impression using the amember solution may bring simplicity to my members registering twice.
