Hi, I have a new site that is built in Joomla which enables people to signup to a 12 month membership program with monthly payments via paypal. I have used a Joomla subscription plugin to manage the access control. The owner has (without telling me ) put the membership on Clickbank and I now have to handle the potential subscription coming from 2 sources (CB or direct). Simple question - can I do this relatively easily with amember (replacing the current Joomla subscription manager)? Any advice/hints very gratefully received Mike
Mike, Yes you can do this with aMember. But there is be issues with import. You can import users from Joomla to aMember, but unfortunately without passwords, so you will need to generate new password info and then email passwords to all users. Also, there can be issues with existing paypal subscriptions, for example if your existing module sent _notify_url to paypal. PayPal will use that url to send notifications instead of url that you have in paypal profile. So old subscriptions will be sent to old IPN script url (so modifications will be required to Joomla itself)
Hi Alexander This is a new website - still in beta testing so there are no current users to worry about. Are you saying that if people signup in Joomla that information can be passed to amember but not the password they have used in the sign up process? That we would immediately have to send them a new password! Can that be automated? or do we have to manually initiate the new password? Thanks for your help Mike
No I wrote about import only. If there are no current users, you will not have that issue. Joomla integration plugin he have works this way: http://www.amember.com/p/Integration/ Signups will be handled by aMember, and aMember will add users to Joomla when user's subscription will be completed.
