    Ok so I understand that a cron job is performing a function automatically at a scheduled time. My question is what function does it perform and why do I need to do it? Any help is appreciated.

    For example, it will disable expired users, rebill customers (if your payment processor requires aMember to trigger this process) and so on.

    Ok, I tried the first suggested line on mine and got that big red banner...I used the one with lynx in it. I am now trying the one with curl in it. I only use paypal and I do not have recurring bills. Is it necessary to still run it? Or just recommended?

    With paypal, it is not required. Disable external cron.

    Using Paypal and Storm Pay

    While using these two payments systems, should I use the external cron job, I am always getting a warning message:
    <br />
    <b>Warning</b>: unlink(/home/robander/public_html/amember/data/new_rewrite/_vti_cnf): Is a directory in <b>/home/robander/public_html/amember/plugins/protect/new_rewrite/new_rewrite.inc.php</b> on line <b>65</b><br />

    Can I just disable external cron?

    Please keep external cron enabled, this warning can be ignored, it is not a problem.
