I am considering aMember, but need to ask some questions. My site will have 2 sections, with a public home page offering membership signup. The sign-up page needs to ask for zip-code. Second best is that a 2nd form needs to come immediately after, asking for zip-code. So first question: is the usual membership sign-up form customizable? Then, having entered a zipcode, I want to use that information to determine which of two memberships people will be in. Is that easily done, or does it require an outside script? If it requires an outside script, how will my programmer know what to do, since I hear that aMember is not open source? a couple of non-related but important questions: Third, is it easy to have non-paid memberships? I don't want people to have to go through Paypal for the membership. Fourth, does aMember install well on 1&1 Linux version?
The amember pro code is like 90% unencrytped, so you programmer can get into the code. I think what you want can be done on the signup.html template using javascript etc... You can offer free memberships- suggest you try out the trial version- your coder can play with the templates in the free version too. David
