Customising emails depending on product

    I'm having some difficulty with emails for version 4.

    When someone purchases a subscription, I would like to send an email. If it's a new customer, I'd like to send a 'thanks for becoming a member' email. If it's someone renewing membership, I want to send a 'thanks for renewing' email. (I don't use an auto-renewal system - people can purchase a renewal at any time.)

    On the 'send email after purchase' option on the setup/config page, I can customise the email using the fields available. However, it uses the one template, so the non-field text has to be the same. That's a problem for me.

    The obvious alternative is an autoresponder. But I have the opposite problem. Although I can have a different template for new and renewal subscriptions, I can't use any fields - such as the person's name or the subscription period.

    There's an additional problem in that the autoresponder won't send an email for a subscription which starts in the future - such as a renewal. The option to send the message as soon as payment is made doesn't actually work if it's a future product. I've been told by aMember support that it actually triggers on the first day of the new subscription - that's too late for me.

    So, I'm a bit stuck. Is there a way around this that anyone has found - or am I just missing something obvious?

    No - in the end there is no option to send a confirmation email for future subscriptions. So if people renew early, they don't get any 'thank you' from aMember. Instead they just get an email from the payment processor.

    I was rather hoping that it would be added as a feature in an update, but so far, that hasn't happened. Unless, of course, I've missed something.
