delay subscription charge till end of current subscription

I have multiple subscription types.
I would like to allow subscribers to switch between the types but not be charged the new one until the end of the old one.

I have set all the renewal IDs to the same number but it still tries to charge them instantly.

How can I get it to delay the charge until the end of the previous subscription?

I am using authorize.net as my payment system.
