Hi, can anyone tell me if aMember allows for a tiered membership structure (different levels of Membership will give access to different components of the web site). I can't find any reference to it in FAQs or the features list.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes it does, you can protect any number of directories with amember, and then asign access to those directories by membership level (product). As example you have a membership level (product) of free that allows access just to a preview section directory, and then membership level A that allows access to directories b & B, and membership level B that aloows acess to directories A,B,C & D, and so on however you want. Very flexible, and it's probably in the features list somewhere since it's one of the many great features of amember.

I looked through quickly, and although not directly stated as you inquired, this pretty much says it:

-Unlimited number of products (subscription types), each with own price, expiration and ANY other parameters. You able to handle any number and combination of products/protected files and(or) directories-

You can do just about any combination you want!

Will Amember recognize Joomla SEF URLS as "protected directories"

As you may know, Joomla, once an SEF component is set up, sets up a psuedo virtual file structure according to the sections and categories.

    for instance: http://mydomain.com/News/toronto-chapter/news.html

would amamber hook into this URL or does it need a "physical" folder, or both?

would a empty folder, protected, trigger amamber on a joomla URL execution?

You are talking about using "protect folder" in amember to protect a virtual/physical folder used by joomla- no it doesnt work.

To use protection in amember you either need to use the joomla plugin to protect the level, eg registered, or hack the joomla content file to use php_include protection.
