I would like to disable new registrations on my website until a later date, then open them again.

How can I do this? I thought it would be on the global settings tab but I didn't see it there, or in advanced either.

you can do this by editing your products.
    1) manage products
    2) edit
    3) Product Availability/Visibilty
    4) scope
    Here you can make changes

Thanks. So I have to go in and manually disable every product one by one any time I want to shut it down? That seems a bit long-winded. I would expect some kind of simple signups on / signups off configuration choice.

EDIT: This solution isn't good enough... a user can still see the signup page, attempt to sign up and then it just asks them to select a membership type. Is there not a way to clearly block a user from signing up?

How about replacing signup.php with another file temporarily?

Thanks. I have gone with the solution of emptying the signup template until a later date.
