Hi, there, I am developing a Drupal site and haven't yet done anything with Drupal's user setup. Does aMember use all of Drupal's internal user-management or does it use it's own? Sorry for the obvious question, but originally I was just developing a Drupal site that didn't have users at all - everyone gets the same pages/site. But because I want to sell memberships I have to now incorporate user management and don't want to go in the wrong direction by learning Drupal's system if aMember's is different in some way. (I hope I'm explaining this okay. ) Thanks, and have a good day, everyone, - Paul
I've just gone through the integration of amember with drupal. In a nutshell, your users login / signup via an amember page at your site, then amember updates your drupal database for you. For instance on my site I just have Anonymous members and Authenticated members. Once a visitor signs up via amember, they automatically become an Authenticated member. Overall I think the integration with Drupal is great. Feel free to drop me a line at john dot runchey at gmail dot com if you have questions, I'd be glad to help out. - John www.teach-me-c.com
John, Thanks a lot. I checked out your site - can I ask you why you used amember for what you're doing and not Drupal's own member management system? The answer might be obvious, but I'm not THAT familiar with Drupal as of yet... Thanks for the help so far. - Paul
First off my site is in development so don't judge my graphic design too harshly, a better site is coming The reason I have amember is because I want to charge eventually, and amember will handle all the billing stuff very nicely. I'm a big fan of Drupal. It isn't trivial to learn, but it seems very powerful to me. It also kind of fits my programmer view of the world. How many member types are you going to have? Mine is going to be pretty simple, just authenticated (for paid) and anonymous (for unpaid). Anyway drop me any drupal questions, I'd love to help if I can. - John
