Is there a way to make the coupon box a dynamic field ie if no coupons are offered for a particular product, no coupon box appears? This way folks who are thinking of buying don't become hesitant from getting the feeling they might be missing an opportunity for a discount that others are getting or fear they are paying retail when others are not. Is unnecessary resistance esp when that isn't the case at all. No need to shoot a support inquiry explaining there are no discounts or coupons for this product. And no need to lose a tire-kicker just because of a fear of paying retail. thanks
One way to overcome it and in fact to put it to good use psychologically is to always display the coupon box and ALWAYS give coupons. If your product cost is 100, enter it as 110 and offer EVERYONE a "$10 off" coupon. This will alleviate and in fact take advantage of the psychology of those who feel they are missing out. When and if you REALLY wish to give special coupon discounts to others, you can do so with coupons of differing values that include the std $10 discount and then some !
Thanks. That is a very smart answer. Not thought of that one. The coupon idea I set up are for bulk and group discounts. Your idea is a good one to create a sense of grab-it-now urgency for every visitor by adding a 'right now only' coupon code into the sales copy. Not as big a discount as the other but still very effective. Will add that coupon the next time I update my copy. Thanks again.
To be brutally honest Id never even considered it till I read your request for hiding the coupon entry field. The idea simply came to me then and there. There's always more than one way to skin a cat. I think I'll put my solution to your post to good use on my own sites from now on.
