I had a look - it licensed as GNU CPL. To use it, I have to license aMember Pro as GPL too (and make it free software). It is not the thing I'm looking for
I'm no lawyer, but I recall that you would only have to release the module as GPL'ed, not the entire aMember system. And that's only if you made any modifications to the echo connectivity plugin. I thought that the GPL applies at the module level, not the entire system level. It's why there exists proprietary software on Linux.
Hi Alex. Is there any response to this? I'm also interested in using ECHO, and finding a membership site script that's compatible with it. Back in June or so, you responded to another aMember user asking him/her to pay $50 to integrate ECHO with the script. But have you created a module for it after this more current thread? I'm not familiar with GPL or plugins, but with what I do understand, what aantix said does sound pretty feasible. Can you answer that question, please? I'm really interested in ordering some sort of membership script soon, and aMember has almost all the features I need -- except this. Thanks much. Sincerely, Mariel
Alex - Looking at the license provided within the readme.txt, the following is provided : Questions Questions can be sent to ECHO for general assistance via our developer support e- mail as found at developer-support@echo-inc.com. Our staff will assist with your questions, providing answers when they can. In cases where we have an understanding of your PC or Web site environment and the issues involved, we provide specific answers and solutions. In other cases, we can help identify the part of the process where the problem resides, but we may not necessarily know the exact remedy. In other cases, we may not have the knowledge to troubleshoot problems with problems residing outside the ECHO environment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. I don't think integration with aMember would require you to make aMember GPL'ed also.
Yes, I've it already discussed with ECHO developers and it is allowed to use this library. If someone already have working ECHO test account, and may give me this info, I would appreciate it a lot.
ECHO integration completed. It will be available for download with next minor aMember Pro release, but it is already available by request: support@cgi-central.net
