email only signup

Hi. I'm wondering if someone can explain to me how to setup amember to use ONLY an email for signup. I don't mind if the first_name and last_name is randomly generated, or even uses part of the email address...

I just want to minimize the fields for someone to signup to just ONE.

I'm familiar with auto generating the username and password.

if someone has some brilliant way of doing this...please help!

On the signup form, use hidden fields for the first and last name? Use "empty" for both.
