Why is using another email system in addition to Amember suggested by a lot of people? I'm researching the systems I think I would like to have my programmer add into my site. Thank you for your responses.

Email can be resource intensive- if you send out a lot of email at once, it can slow down or even crash the server. Some host set limits on the # of emails you can send in an hour or day. And if your server is blacklisted- your emails won't arrive, so deliverability is an issue too.

As I begin my list, would it be advisable to use the email system Amember offers and when my list gets to, say 500 people, would that be a good time to transfer them to another source? I don't like cutting corners, and on the other hand I want to use my money wisely in the start-up phase.

    thank you for your response.

Transfering people is a but touchy- with aweber when you move people in they have to confirm the new list, like a double opt in. So many people may not bother.

If money is an issue, I would stick with the amember system until the site is a proven winner.
*But, also confirm with your host, if theres an email limit.
