We've been using this system for about a month now, and about 25% of our users are not receiving their email verification emails. I've tested it on five different email clients successfully, but there is always that other 25%. Since most are getting it without any problems, I'm assuming that it's either being filtered as spam, or not even getting through the email client filters to get INTO the spam folder. Some people are able to find the emails in their spam or trash folders, but plenty are not. - I've added text asking people to add our email address to their address book (and thus as an allowed sender). (this doesn't help the emails that don't even get through the email client filters) - I've re-written the email to be as unspammy as possible, adding our usual signature, removing the phrase "account verification" and generally trying to make it seem like it's written by a human. - We've been telling people to look in their spam/trash folders (only works half the time). What else can we do to get more of these emails through? Right now we're not saving much time on registration, since we have to do so much troubleshooting!
Email deliverability is a major headache... Theres a lot of reasons that your mail may not be getting through, blacklisted IP, hotmail etc.. just black holes it. Suggest you use a service like aweber who focuses on making sure their mail gets through. (although this will require a double opt in..) David
Hi David, Any chance amember will ever have integration with aWeber so double opt-in is no longer required? This would be really huge for us. The email marketing component in amember is just not robust enough, but I really hate the idea of double opt-in. Very confusing/annoying for the customers. Thanks!
It is not something we could do at all. There are no technical problems, but as I guess aWeber does not want to trust their customers and they want to additionally confirm all recipients are agreed to received messages. There are other services, like SendGrid, and Amazon email service - without this restrictions. We are working to get it included into aMember Pro v4, I hope it will solve most problems.
This seems like an awkward solution: to have yet another product to ensure that the emails go through? Is there anyway that we can approve/verify email accounts within aMember? Right now we're having to create new accounts manually when users don't get their email verification email, because we can't "approve" their half-done account. It's a crazy amount of extra work.....
You can resend verification emails from aMember CP -> Edit User -> Actions -> Resend verification email. Also latest version have ability to verify email address from amember CP.
