Using paypal_pro plugin. Product has a free 30 day trial, and then charges for a year. During the free 30 day trial, when a user attempt to cancel a subscription, this error message is displayed:

    Subscription id empty for ###.

Any suggestions? (yes, I contacted support but have not had any luck finding a resolution...)

Still have not heard from support. It's been more than 24 hours. I consider this a very serious issue. If users cannot easily cancel during the trial period before the recurring payments start we're going to be hit with countless complaints. Any suggestions from anyone using paypal_pro recurring payments with a free trial would be appreciated.

    Sorry for delay with reply.
There are two reasons for this error:
    1. IPN is not set in your paypal account. So check IPN url.
    2. DPRP is not enabled (so recurring payments didn't start),
More info about error and reason can be found in payment Debug Log.

Thank you for the prompt reply Monday. I realize for most, the weekends are not technically "work days." My error appears to be DPRP I will try that first.

To turn on DPRP (recurring payments):

    1. Go to PayPal,
    2. Find the "Products and Services" tab (usually all the way to the top right).
    3. Click on "Recurring Payments"
    4. Click on "Sign Up" (it may also say "Accept Agreement").

Check your MyAccount/Profile and make sure it says:

    Recurring Payments Live
