I've read that I can import vBulletin 3.x users into aMember. They'll lose their passwords, and have to somehow reset ("forgot password" type option?) Right now, the vB forum has about 300 members, and 100 of them have paid subscriptions to access a special forum. Term of those subscriptions is 12 months from pay date. I've read those cannot be imported. However, what if I went ahead and imported the users anyway, and then gave existing users custom subs? Example: Anybody with a subscription ending in the month of March expires on March 31. Then I'll have 12 staggered expirations for those imports. Once it expires, they'd move on to a new sub (365 days from payment, as before). Is this possible? Can I make custom subs, with specific expirations? Or at very least, 11-month, 10-month, etc subs, that cannot be renewed? Now to make it even slightly more complex, I want to use a WordPress vB bridge, where WP uses the vB user tables. When a vB member is logged in, they're also logged into WP. Does aMember store a copy of users in the default vB user field? And then when a sub expires, since there is not going to be a free area anymore, does aMember prevent this person from logging into vB anymore? (And thus prevent him/her from being logged in to see the WP.) No, I'd rather not also install an aMember WordPress plugin, too. One is enough, I think. Would this work?
There is only one huge issue with import. There is no way to import vBulletin passwords. So, you can import all users and generate new password for each user and then email new passwords to all users at once. In regards to existing subscriptions, that depends on how you handle these subsc currently. Are these subs recurring? Do you have subscription end date for each user? If that info is available, you can create subscription with the same length in amember, so user will have access until the end of subscription, and then will be able to go into member's area and renew it. In regards to WP bridge, when user's status will be changed in aMember (from expired to active or vice versa), plugin will update vBulletin's user record. It will not trigger any other vBulletin functions and just will update record in database. So this depends on how that bridge works. If it is based on vBulletin hooks, it may not work because vBulletin hooks will not be executed when user will be updated. In this situation I recommend to use our wordpress plugin as well. Both plugins works the same way as described here : http://www.amember.com/p/Integration/
