I'm finding export really useful as I want to target certain members for emails. Having just discovered my hosting service limits emails of any volume, I'm now using export to a spreadsheet which gives me a lot of options for separating my members. 'Discard additional' seems to work as I want but I want to be sure. Does it go by Sort number, or perhaps all but last subscription made ( which is what I want). I have free members and paying members. Members often join free, then sign up for paying sub. I want to forget the free membership in that case. I don't want to send free mebers coupons for a reduction if they have already upgraded to paying full. If it's by product number I'm stuck because I have a further paying option after the free option. I definitely want it to mean it just keeps the latest. Then again perhaps it cleverly takes a paid sub in preference to any unpaid subs. Long winded sorry. Clarification will be very helpful. Thanks.
Hi, With type being set to "Discard additional", amember will return latest added subscription. So I believe it will work as you want.
Fantastic. Thank you Alexander. That is how it seems to work during testing. I have several thousand members and it's not that easy to analyse in a spreadsheet but that's the result I have been getting. Your answer simplifies everything. I'm disappointed that emailing from amember is not practical because of hosting limitations but forcing me to use export gives great scope for targeting members. I can create ways to send smaller more effective batches. At some stage I'll use a commercial emailing service but they are expensive. Good work! ps Just a quick thought. Can I identify which newsletters have been signed up to in the export data? I haven't checked but I suspect it can't be done. If not I'll forget newsletters altogether. I know I can access the opt out emails setting which is great.
