When I try to setup/configure the wordpress plugin, the following error appears when I click the save button:

Fatal error: Function name must be a string in /home/bizlinda/public_html/amember/admin/setup.php on line 205

I have a slightly older version of aMemberPro (3.0.8) that I'm trying to use again. I don't really want to upgrade unless I have to in order to get it to work with wordpress. Any suggestions?

Are you also using an older version of the plugin? What version of wordpress are you using? Sounds like you are mixing and matching...

i just downloaded the plugin today from amember. It didn't really tell me what version it was. But i have version 2.6.1 of wordpress.

if the wordpress plugin for amember is not compatible with my older amember, how do i get a plugin that is compatible?

Contact the Help Desk -- they'll give you the correct version. You may have download version that works for WP 2.6.2.
